Olsen twins' Svengali gets in boys' gameThu Jun 9, 4:06 AM ET LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Robert Thorne, the attorney who conquered the tween girl market as head of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's Dualstar LLC, is turning his sights to tween boys for the first time. Thorne, who also recently took on management of Hilary Duff, has partnered with new tween boy brand Riot Media to develop, manage and implement licensing, marketing and sales initiatives aimed at 8- to 13-year-old boys. Thorne said that as part of his deal with Riot, his new Beverly Hills-based firm -- the Robert Thorne Co. -- took a "substantial" financial stake in Riot Media, founded last year by Jay Gissen, TV Guide's former director of editorial operations and editorial development. Thorne stepped down as CEO of Dualstar in January after the twins decided to buy him out a few years ahead of schedule. Riot's newly launched Internet site, http://www.riotweb.com, will be the primary medium used to build the Riot brand, which mixes humor and action with "scary and gross" elements that Riot's marketing research indicates tween boys love. But Gissen said plans already are under way to develop a video game and television programing for the brand that features a back story about an evil circus and a heroic chimp named Riot.
